TUESDAY, APRIL 22nd

SUGARING CLEANUP WORK DAY
8AM - 10AM | Rides from behind Robo
  • Sugaring season might be over, but the cleanup begins now! Come help us out with our sugaring cleanup and you might get something sweet in return.

  • No experience required, just bring a water bottle and dress for the weather!

CLIMATE COLLABORATIVE EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
5:30PM | Irving Atrium
  • This Earth Day, join us for a dinner celebration of one year of the Dartmouth Climate Collaborative- Dartmouth's commitment to bold climate action in our operations and academics. Senior leadership, faculty, and students will share climate wins as well as their outlook for future work.

  • RSVP HERE – we are currently at capacity, but you can join the waitlist and will be notified if a spot opens up!


PHENOLOGY 1: PLANTS
6:30PM - 8:30PM | Dartmouth Organic Farm
  • Join Matthew Ayres, Professor of Biological Sciences at Dartmouth, for a discussion of phenology onsite at the Dartmouth Organic Farm. When will the leaves come out and the birds come back? This talk will take place rain or shine!

    Against the backdrop of springtime in the Connecticut River valley, we invite you to participate in a discussion of the seasonality of plants and animals that make up our local ecosystems.

  • This is the first of three discussions of phenology at the Dartmouth Organic Farm. The other two will take place at 6:30PM on April 29 and 7:30PM May 6.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23rd

SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE HOURS
12PM - 1:30PM | Robinson 106
  • Join Sustainability staff for delicious homemade sweets and susty conversation!

  • All are welcome, whether you've been involved in the past or are looking to get started with Sustainability now! Share ideas, ask questions, or just take a little snack break with us.


POP-UP BIKES SHOP
3 - 5PM | Bikes Shop (Fahey-Mclane patio)
  • Dartmouth Bikes hosts Pop Up Bike Shops (PUBS) weekly (weather permitting) outside of the bike shop on the Fahey-McLane patio located on the Tuck Mall side of the building. These are for simple bike registrations, tune-ups requiring less than 15 minutes of work, as well as general maintenance like chain lube and air (which are always free).

  • Join Purnika (’27 she/her) and Willa (’27 she/her) this Friday for a savory s’mores 🧀❤️‍🔥 campfire!! 🪵🔥 Spring is here 🌸, and it’s the perfect time to spend your evening at the Organic Farm 👩‍🌾! Now you may ask, what exactly is a savory s’more? Think charcuterie 🧀🥖🍽️. Think cheese, crackers, jam, honey 🍯, hot honey 🔥🍯. Yum!   • Come swing by our on-campus thrift store, the Free Market, this weekend! All clothing is reclaimed from Dartmouth's waste streams. Instead of buying new clothing, get second-hand for free!


HANOVER EARTH WEEK FAIR
3PM - 5PM | Richmond Middle School
  • Join friends, neighbors and local experts at the Richmond Middle School to learn and share how YOU can give back to our wonderful home.

  • Build action plans, enjoy a slice of our big Earth Week cake from King Arthur Baking, and test your luck with multiple chances to win door prizes from local businesses.

  • More than 15 presenters will help you: Demystify the landscape of recycling and composting; Kickstart earth-friendly gardens and landscapes; Reduce fossil fuel use through solar, efficiencies, heat pumps, etc.; Save money through NH Saves rebates and tax credits; Conserve and protect the Upper Valley’s beautiful forests and waterways; Participate in upcoming local and state legislation; Foster cleaner transportation systems, EV’s and E-bikes; And much, much more!

FOSSIL FREE DARTMOUTH EARTH DAY LEARN-IN
Monday, April 21st | 4PM | One Wheelock
  • The goal of the event is to collaboratively learn about the present administration’s impact on the environment, and convert findings into creative outlets like art, poetry, music, and/or social media reels. 

  • Please join, bring a friend, and share with other folks who may be interested! (There will be Lou's pastries!)



SHOW YOUR STRIPES CLIMATE BRACELET WORKSHOP
Tuesday, April 22nd | 1:30PM - 4PM | Russo Gallery, Dickey Center
  • #ShowYourStripes was established by climate scientist Professor Ed Hawkins at the University of Reading. This striking graphic, showing a range of blue to red stripes, visualizes the increase in global temperature due to climate change.

  • To help raise awareness, climate scientist and consultant Dr. Jenny Baeseman has created bracelet kits that reflect the colors of the stripes for each year.

  • On Earth Day, Institute of Arctic Studies and the Dickey Center are holding a community event for students to come together and build their own bracelet. Each bracelet takes around 20 minutes to complete.


EARTH DAY TRAIL WORK
Tuesday, April 22nd | 2:30 - 5:25PM | Rides from Robo
  • Come celebrate Earth Day by getting outside and stewarding our trails! We will be moving a bear box up to velvet rocks shelter, and would love lots of people to help!

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
Tuesday, April 22nd | 4PM - 5PM |Fairchild Tower
  • Join the ENVS, EARS and GEOG Departments for an undergraduate/graduate student poster session and an Earth Day Trivia contest! There will be snacks, prizes, community, and awesome research! 

  • Please let Chloe (chloe@dartmouth.edu) know if you would like to display a research poster (can be an old/existing poster or a new one). 


DOUG TALLAMEY VIDEO SCREENING
Tuesday, April 22nd | 6:30PM - 8:30PM | Nugget Theatre
  • A consortium of local organizations will host a special Earth Day screening of prerecorded talks by entomologist Doug Tallamy of Homegrown National Park at the Nugget Theatre in Hanover. After the screening, VT Center for Ecostudies Conservation Scientist Dr. Desiree Narango and Director of Conservation Science Dr. Ryan Rebozo will join Alicia Houk, educator and ecological gardening expert, for a Q&A session.

  • They will discuss native plants, creating insect and bird habitats at home, and strategies for yard rewilding.

BIRD FEEDER WORKSHOP
Sunday, April 27th | 1PM | The Cube
  • Stop by the Cube to make/paint a bird feeder!

  • Presented by Allen and School House!

  • Snacks WILL be provided.
