APPLICATIONS FOR SPRING BREAK IMMERSION
Appalachia Immersion Trip Applications - HERE (DUE BY DECEMBER 8th)
Appalachia Trip Leader - HERE (DUE BY DECEMBER 8th)
The Appalachia Energy Immersion Trip is an experiential learning opportunity bringing students to the heart of America’s coal industry–a historically important place for our national energy system that continues to prove its relevance in the shaping of our nation’s energy policies. The ten-day trip will travel throughout West Virginia to explore the history and legacy of coal extraction on the people, landscape, environment, and economy of West Virginia, as well as the region’s shift to a different future. Students will interact with people working in diverse areas of the industry–energy producers, community organizations, political leaders, and more–to learn about West Virginia’s transition to a cleaner energy system, including development of transitional resources like natural gas and renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and geothermal.
Arctic Studies Immersion Trip Applications - HERE (DUE BY DECEMBER 8th)
Arctic Studies Trip Leader Applications - HERE (DUE BY DECEMBER 8th)
Students will travel to Iceland for this trip, and will engage with different energy systems, Icelandic partners, the landscape, and educational institutes. The immersive nature of the trip will include hiking, travel on boats, and hours of travel along winding Icelandic roads. Aspects of the trip will center around policy, science, community engagement, and stewardship. We will meet with scientists, tourism industry professionals, policymakers, sustainability enterprises, and commercial industry experts.

Sugar Crew is a group of students who run the maple sugaring operation at the Dartmouth Organic Farm from start to finish.
We have the opportunity to learn the entire process of maple syrup production- tapping trees, boiling sap, tasting syrup, processing the syrup, and selling our finished product to the rest of campus.
The Crew will spend time snowshoeing in our sugar bush, checking taps, collecting buckets, chopping wood, stoking the fire, and being at the farm with the team.

CLIMATE DIPLOMACY ON THIN ICE
4:30PM - 6:30PM | HALDEMAN 041
The geopolitical landscape of the Arctic has shifted dramatically following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which paused over 25 years of traditional Arctic Council-informed and -guided cooperation with Arctic Indigenous Peoples, Arctic Nations, and Observer States. This break in Arctic diplomacy, particularly the cessation of scientific cooperation, raises crucial questions about the future of Arctic collaboration on challenges facing the Arctic and the planet. In light of this, our project seeks to present a series of informed scenarios that may help guide Arctic diplomacy and cooperation as we look toward 2032, a year that will also mark the 5th International Polar Year (IPY-5).
