Here's what's happening this week in Sustainability!

MONDAY, October 14th

POP UP BIKE SHOP
2:30PM - 4:30PM | Patio in front of Fahey-McLane!
  • This event is for QUICK FIXES ONLY. To schedule an appointment for any fix longer than 15 minutes, please visit our website.

  • You can fill your tires and lube your chain for free, and small fixes are just $10 for 15 minutes of labor (plus the cost of any parts). We only accept DASH Discretionary via the GET Mobile app, so please bring your phone, ID Card, and have your DASH preloaded with some money. We can also help you register your bike for free!

NEW ENGLAND HARVEST DINNER
Monday, October 14th | 4PM - 8:30PM | 1953 Commons
  • Mingle with local food vendors and try some amazing autumnal dishes!


 

TUESDAY, October 15th

FARM CLUB
8AM - 10AM Rides from behind Robo
  • Come out to the O-Farm Tuesday morning for a workday where we'll be harvesting down in the fields!! We will be leaving from behind Robo at 8am, and we'll be back by 10am. No experience required, just bring a water bottle and dress for the weather!

  • Instead of buying new, get your fresh fit at the Free Market!

SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE HOURS
12 - 1PM | Robinson (Robo) 106
  • Join Sustainability Staff for office hours! Whether you’ve got a question about sustainability at Dartmouth or want to learn more, or just want to spend time with others and eat some delicious homemade baked goods, all are welcome.

  • If you’re a newcomer, attending office hours is a great way to hear about what we’re up to and how to get involved!

O-FARM x WILLING HANDS
4:30PM - 6PM | Rides from behind Robo
  • Do you want to find out where all the food grown at the O Farm goes? Well, you're in luck! Meet us behind Robo to celebrate Food Day in October this Thursday after 2As by joining us in learning more about Willing Hands an organization that recovers fresh food from the Upper Valley and delivers it to local social service organizations.

  • We will be getting a tour of their nearby warehouse facility, learning more about what they do, and maybe helping out with a project in their garden if time permits! We will be back before 6:30 pm.

  • Want to reduce your environmental impact? Tired of buying directly from fast fashion companies with poor labor treatment? Want to save some money? Come to the Free Market and get new clothing for free!


RESEARCH JOURNEYS PANEL: ALUMNI SHARE THEIR PATHS FROM UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH TO PhD PROGRAMS, PRESTIGIOUS FELLOWSHIPS, AND THRIVING CAREERS

  • The Office of Fellowships and Scholar Programs will host a panel to highlight the paths of four alumni who were involved in undergraduate research at Dartmouth. Amanda Calhoun ’23, Rachel Kent ’21, Dominique Mobley ’22, and Ian Stiehl ’22 will talk about their research and how it informed their paths as they pursued national fellowships, graduate school, and more.

  • Come swing by our on-campus thrift store, the Free Market, this weekend! All clothing is reclaimed from Dartmouth's waste streams. Instead of buying new clothing, get second-hand for free!

  • Come support and celebrate Native Americans At Dartmouth by meeting on the green this Monday!

Deep Rising Hop Film Screening and Discussion |Thursday October 18th

6:30pm | Loew Auditorium

  • Narrated by Jason Momoa, this vital documentary illuminates the connection between the ocean's most dazzling creatures and sustaining all life on Earth.

  • Prior to the feature will be the short film Workforce Rising, a documentary made by the non-profit American Resilience Project about the impact the transition to electric vehicles will have on auto-workers, grid capacity and infrastructure.
